Il trionfo dello zero

In this nursery rhyme by Gianni Rodari the poor number zero has been set aside by the other figures, which are afraid that his non-existent value could compromise theirs. One day the zero, offering his help to number one who was having some problems, finds out what a great authority he could represent along with his own kind. The great writing of Rodari is accompanied in this edition by the imaginary illustrations of Elena del Vento who bases her technique on the use of stamps and prints of real objects on paper, recalling the drawings, games and recreational experiments of childhood. The little anthropomorphic numbers are endowed, in their formal simplicity, with a delicate expressivity brilliantly in agreement with the basic elegance of the settings.

Elena del Vento

Elena del Vento studied at the Scuola Politecnica in Milan. During the following years she worked in Ettore Vitale's graphic studio in Rome and in 2011 she obtained the Master Ars in Fabula with the thesis project “Il trionfo dello zero”, edited by Emme Edizioni. In September 2014 she published two new books for Editions Circonflexe: “Un petit point de rien du tout” (texts by Véronique Cauchy) and “Un petit trait de rien du tout” (texts by Bénedicte Rivière). Between 2013 and 2015, in Paris, she developed professional competence in the animation and artistic coordination field with associations like Ligue de l'Einsegnement and the Association Mom'artre.
